The following paper is the first one of a hopefully long series of essays dealing with a range of different topics related to the broad field of rope bondage. Elaborating on issues that are currently being discussed in the bondage scene, I want to focus especially on those that I personally consider to be of great importance. In particular, I would like to contribute to current discussions about specific bondage terms and their meanings, even though I am fully aware of the fact that my opinion will not always be shared by the majority of readers.
